A little bit about me. I started Willow Bend Design from my laptop in my Master Bedroom. I named my company after an imaginary Farm I created when I was a little girl, Willow Bend. My husband, Chris, created a make-shift home office for me in a window nook. I love it. He was so determined to create a place for me, he hauled my beloved {& VERY heavy} Wormwood Desk up to the second floor. We call our Master Bedroom “Sanctuary.” Because it is a sacred space to relax, dream, and pray.
As my family grew, my budget shrank. Hiring full-time staff to help run my business was out of the question. So we had to manage our time and our resources better. Little did I know that by not having the ability to hire that “Dream Team” of photographers, carpenters, designers, digital marketers, developers, SEO specialists, e-commerce managers, graphic designers, accountants, financial planners, teachers, a nanny, and a housekeeper…He was actually preparing me for something bigger.
Like many women, I sold myself short and did not believe that I had any marketable skills. Until a chance meeting with a successful female entrepreneur changed my life! She encouraged me to start my consulting business and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime and offered me a job! I went from being a stay-at-home mom to being an eCommerce and Digital Marketing Manager for a multi-million dollar company.
It was during this time that I received valuable experience, honed my skills and gained the confidence I needed to build my business. For me, this is what small business is about. I love my job! I can encourage, share, and teach others the skills they need to make their own business a success.
